I’m still currently on my first rotation – at the moment, I’m working on compliance. This means finalising comps, carrying out adjustments and doing research on various tax legislation. I’m also doing my ACA exams – a three-year qualification where you train to be a chartered accountant. At the end of this process, I’m hoping to get more responsibility and more challenging work.
My Line Manager’s really supportive, and I’ve been allocated a buddy who frequently checks up on me and makes sure I’m okay – especially at the beginning when I wanted to get settled in. I’ve also got a mentor who I can go to with technical questions, and I’ve been allocated an ACA counsellor who answers many questions I have regarding this qualification. I’d say the work is varied – you’re very rarely doing the same thing on a day to day basis. Things come flying in thick and fast, which gets quite exciting, I want to make sure that I do the work well, and it’s usually quite challenging.”
